Our Story
When martial artists Josh Gold and Mark Tercek met, they shared a belief that the lessons learned on the mat could transform lives far beyond it. Mark, former CEO of The Nature Conservancy, brought decades of experience leading impactful nonprofit initiatives. Josh, a seasoned instructor who has taught thousands of students worldwide, brought deep expertise in training and program design. Together, they created Budo Accelerator—a place where young people can build confidence, discipline, and leadership skills, turning a dojo into a launchpad for success in school, career, and life.
Our programs for high-school and college students develop leadership skills and empower them to succeed academically, socially, and professionally.
Our programs develop essential leadership and life skills, and introduce students to a community of friends and mentors that fosters emotional support, belonging, and economic mobility.
We’re committed to serving communities in need and offer full scholarships to qualifying students. Over 90% of our students are (or will be) the first in their families to go to college.
